TIDEWATER BUILDERS GARNERS AWARDS
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC: Tidewater Builders has become one of the coast’s more recognized custom home builders, with a wide array of awards.
With a boom in the building industry, consumers are more cautious than ever when it comes to selecting a builder. Referrals obviously raise a prospective homeowner’s confidence…but what measure of excellence is applied when one doesn’t know anyone else to ask about a builder’s credentials?
The first place to look would be how the building industry itself has recognized its peers. For Tidewater Builders, this means much. “Each and every home we build meets our own extremely high standards”, says company President Scott Sutherland, “but it’s always gratifying to have our principles and attention to detail recognized by the rest of the building industry.”
Tidewater Builders has be a winner of multiple Parade Of Homes awards since 1998. The company was also selected Horry-Georgetown Builder Of The Year in 1996; and has received the Life Spike Award from the National Association of Home Builders.
In a leadership capacity, Tidewater Builders principals have served as past President Horry Georgetown Home Builders Association, past committee member and chair of the National Association of Home Builders, and continues to be a member in good standing both HGHBA and NAHB.
So, when selecting your next builder, ask for referrals, tour representative homes and check the builders “award resume” to see how they stack up to the rest of the industry. Tidewater Builders is proud to measure up in all three categories.

What to do
What to Do if Disaster Strikes
|
No part of the United States is free from disaster. Here's what your clients need to know about being prepared:
Maintain a disaster preparedness kit. Items should include 1 gallon of water per person per day for at least three days; at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food; $100 in small bills; a lighter for fires; a battery-powered or hand-crank radio; flashlight; extra batteries; first aid kit; a whistle to signal for help; dust masks; plastic sheeting and duct tape to secure a shelter; moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation; wrench or pliers to turn off utilities; a can opener for food; and local maps. Keep a change of clothes in a backpack for each household member.
Emphasize the importance of a plan. Family members might not be together when disaster strikes, so they should know the evacuation destination of their community. It might be easier to make a long-distance phone call than a local call, so clients should have an out-of-town contact who can relay messages. Every family member must know that person's phone number and carry coins or a prepaid phone card. Worksites also should be prepared and clients' vehicles should contain emergency kits.
Be informed. Take the time to learn the disaster preparedness plans of local schools, cities and states so you can pass this information to your customers.
Disaster Preparedness Week is August 30 to September 5. Consider a mailing to your clients about this very important topic. For more information visit www.ready.gov. |

LEADING SC BUILDER OFFERS HOMEOWNERS TOP ARCHITEECTURAL DESIGN IN-HOUSE
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC: Tidewater Builders, one of coastal South Carolina's largest custom construction companies, has significantly enhanced their reputation as a true design/build company with the addition of acclaimed architect Bret Broadwater of Broadwater & Broadwater Design Group to their staff.
Company President Scott Sutherland sees the "merger" of the two companies as a natural eveloution. "Let's face it, the Grand Strand is getting a more sophisticated, savvy homeowner, who wants a lot of involvement in the design phase of homebuilding. We believe getting the very best design talent on the executive level only enhances the client/builder relationship and, in the end, yields a better home."
Homeowners have always had the luxery of literally personalizing their home design with Tidewater Builders: but, as with most builders, direct access to architects was limited. With Broadwater's relocation to Tidewater Builders' North Myrtle Beach office, clients can now meet face-to-face with their architect.
According to Broadwater, "The collaboration between Broadwater & Broadwater Design Group and Tidewater Builders has been profitable to both firms over the last eleven years. Now, this new synergy created by being physically present on the Grand Strand as a Tidewater 'team member' is extrememtly exciting, as it creates one of the few true design/build operations available locally."
Classically trained in Architecture and Urban Planning at California State Polytechnic University, Broadwater initially spent twenty years in the aerospace industry before pursuing his first love of historical residential preservation. Since then, he has created more than 900 homes throughout the country. For the past decade, Broadwater has sharpend his skills in the highly competitive active adult resort design market as Tidewater Builders' Designer of Record.
Tidewater Builders is located on Highway 17 in North Myrtle Beach, SC. The company first gained prominence as the original builder in the renowned Tidewater Golf Club and Plantation. In Business since 1988, Tidewater Builders' portfolio now includes custom construction in several upscale coastal communities, as well as being lead developers of The Retreat, Woodlyn Meadow and Kelly's Cove.
